These rooms are a clean, well designed, and cozy space. The Goat View 1 room has a deep soaking tub and shower. However, if you have trouble stepping into a deep tub, you should consider booking our other room, Goat View 2, with a walk-in shower instead.

May 16, 2021Our stay, which would have been otherwise pleasant, was marred by terrible communication skills and service from the host. Not every trip goes off without a hitch, and this time... read more I had two unfortunate but probably not uncommon issues. The first was needing to reschedule the day before our reservation. This was due to an unexpected pet medical emergency on our end. I messaged right away so the host would know we weren't going to make it the next day and asked how we could reschedule the trip. All I received was an impersonal canned message about how they don't offer refunds. When I explained again that I didn't want a refund, but to reschedule, but didn't have firm reschedule dates yet, there was no response at all. We felt forced to decide on a reschedule date that evening so as not to lose our reservation, rather than receive any help from the host. This reschedule was accepted by the host, but there was an unexpected additional charge (presumably because it was MLK holiday weekend?).
Though this was unpleasant, I would have let it go as poor communication skills on their part had it not been for the second incident. Upon checkout I made the mistake of forgetting the pillow I had brought with me. That's my mistake. I realized this on the drive home, just two hours after checkout time, and immediately messaged. I apologized, asked if it could be set aside, offered to come back by and pick it up myself the very next weekend (we travel to Cincinnati often for various reasons and were already planning to be up that way again). There was no response at all. The next evening I sent a follow-up message to check in. Then I received a blunt response "Unfortunately it was discarded when the room was cleaned." I let them know I was unhappy with that response, and unhappy that our pillow was just immediately discarded, and unhappy that this was sent as if that is a perfectly normal thing to do. The host's solution was to pull the pillow out of the trash, tell me it was not dirty if I still wanted it, but to let them know soon because they "don't have a space to hold items," as if a single pillow was such an inconvenience for them. This behavior is not in keeping with the title 'host.' A true host does not treat their guest so poorly. Though the hosts check-in message says "let me know if you need anything," I DID need something, and did let them know, and was let down each time. My last message to the host explained all this just as I have explained it here, and (unsurprisingly) I have received no response at all. The pillow was by no means valuable, and I won't be going back to retrieve it from the trash. It is rude to throw someone's belongings away in the first place, without checking with them, or giving them any chance to retrieve it themselves.
If you're still reading and want to know about the room itself, it was fine. This should have been a good review. The bed is very comfortable, the bathroom is nice and I enjoyed the soaker tub after a day of skiing at nearby Perfect North. For being just a room (no kitchen, etc.) it is honestly a little overpriced, but not bad given the uniqueness of the setting with the bar and goat view (which, as animal lovers, was our main draw to this rental). A small table to sit at and a microwave could go a long way to improving its functionality. I just wish the hosts behaved as welcoming hosts, and not treated us as though once they had our money we were nothing but a lingering inconvenience to them. Even a simple "I'm sorry" goes a long way.Mike

The brewery was just outside the farmhouse —super trendy styling inside—and even better was the open air garden with tables and chairs and cafe lights. The live music was great both nights. And don’t even worry about where to find dinner—the food trucks they had at the brewery had some fantastic fresh and hot options! Quite a few interesting shops within walking distance: Square Mile Coffee great blueberry vanilla latte, Dairy Bar delicious soft serve, Little Dutch Bakery amazing baked goods, flea market, apothecary. Fantastic place!

The goats, chickens and bees are also a nice touch to help put the rush of the city behind you.
You can tell Betty and her husband Bob care deeply about what they do and how they do it. This extends to the taproom, of which I was pleasantly surprised.
I can't say enough good things about this place - just book it already. The one downside I will mention is that parking can be challenging in the evenings, especially on a Friday when there is live music outside. But that won't stop me from staying again.John
